U-2707 Idols Road Extension, Forsyth County, NC
The North Carolina Department of Transportation proposes to extend Idols Road (SR 3000) approximately 2 miles on new location from Hampton Road (SR 2999) to US 158 (Clemmons Road). A two-lane roadway with shoulders is proposed from Hampton Road to US 158. Four alternative routes were considered, alternative B was selected. The replacement of bridge number 109 over the Norfolk-Southern Railroad and the reconfiguration of the Idols Road/Hampton Road intersection and all approaches is also proposed. Four feet of paved shoulders will be provided to accommodate "share the road" bicycle traffic.
SEPI was responsible for roadway design, traffic control, signals and signing for this project.
